Warning!

Protect yourself from fraud. Use an escrow service.

URGENT: Sellers beware!

We've been getting frequent reports recently of scammers posing as buyers. Watch out for buyers who:

If it sounds fishy, protect yourself! Don't assume that a buyer is legitimate just because they offer you money!

Pay attention! We can't say this strongly enough!

People are out to scam you!!!

Note: If you respond to an ad, and the person asks you to visit eBay to bid on their item, they are in violation of our rules. They are probably scamming us, and that means they're probably scamming you as well. If you are asked to visit another site to bid on an advertised item, please Contact Us with the ad number.

There are many people out there who want to steal your money. Unfortunately, some of them advertise in the Miata.net Classifieds. While most users are good, honest Miata enthusiasts, a few are not.

By using the classified ads, you agree to the following:

  1. Ads are for individuals selling individual used items. No bulk or business sales without the permission of the site owner.
  2. No ads for "New" items unless you are a sponsor of the site.
  3. All ads must have an asking price.
  4. No references to ads placed on eBay or any other auction or classified ad site.
  5. All ads for new or pre-owned cars must be placed in the Pre-owned Miatas section.
  6. We reserve the right to remove any ad for any reason.
  7. You are using this system at your own risk.
  8. Miata.net makes no representations about the ads placed on our system or the people who placed those ads.
  9. There is no guarantee that your reply to an ad will be seen by the person who placed the ad.
  10. There is no guarantee that buyers are legitimate.
  11. If you are concerned about the reputation or honesty of a seller, it is your responsibility to address those concerns prior to engaging in any transactions.
  12. Miata.net strongly recommends use of an escrow service as protection against fraudulent transactions. One reputable service we are aware of is Escrow.com. There may be others as well.
  13. Miata.net does not get involved in disputes between buyers and sellers.
  14. If you suspect fraudulent activity, it is your responsibility to contact the authorities. Miata.net will not do so for you. Some good starting points for reporting fraud are the Internet Crime Complaint Center, FBI Internet Fraud Center, and the US Postal Service Fraud Center.
  15. Miata.net will not release information about advertisers, except to law enforcement authorities. Do not ask us for addresses, phone numbers, or other information about ads on our system.
