8" unshielded door speakers

I have a 99 with the stock Bose system and about a year ago, the drivers side of the amplifier blew out. Since it was out of warranty and the replacement was $600+, I decided to just gut the entire system and replace it with something better. What I didn't know was how difficult that was going to be. NOBODY makes a component 8" speaker system. I installed a 6.5” component system in the doors and a 8” Bazooka tube in the trunk to compensate for the component lack of low end, but it never really made me happy. My research led me to these speakers. I installed a pair of these speakers this weekend and they sounded GREAT! They are a really good bass to mid bass speaker, but you will still need a tweeter to go along with these. The middle end is ok for now until I build a crossover for the tweeters I have, but the bass is very impressive. I actually had to turn my eq DOWN in my headunit because it was overpowering at times.

The response is great, the quality is great. Very punchy and mellow at the same time. And because they are 8" already, it was a drop in replacement (barring some clipping and soldering) for the stock speakers. And at $37 apiece, they are definately a bargain. Check out the link for more information. http://www.speakerpage.com/S08910.htm The only way to make this better is if they made a component system with these speakers.
