Stiffer engine mounts

Installation went without a hitch on my '03 Shinsen thanks to Miata.net Forum advice. WOW! I love these mounts. Combined with my Mazdaspeed short shifter it has transformed the car. Everything feels tighter and more connected and shifts are more precise and smoother. Yes, there is a little more NVH, but a small compromise considering the overall improvement in feel and driveability. Highly recommended if you are after a real sports car feel. I will be installing the MS differential mounts next. I can't wait for my track day at Sebring the end of this month.

Interesting to note that the stock mounts had about 18K on them and the RH side mount was already showing what I would call excessive wear. Not that it matters to me but these mounts do not appear to lower the engine 1/4" as some have claimed.

Mazdaspeed motor mounts purchased from Corksport for $45/pair - cheaper than the stock ones (~$80)

Appearance-wise these look almost identical to the stock mounts- only these have 2 small white-painted metal ridges sticking out of the side of the black rubber block. But what a difference! These actually firm up the whole front end of the car. I have a BSP front brace- but the motor mounts make a far more noticeable difference! Now, the engine noise is significantly increased. It's not too unpleasant fortunately, kind of a strong deep metallic noise. Above 4000rpm, it does get quite noisy! Didn't cure the drive-line 'shudder' I was trying to track down though- maybe I'll try the clutch next.

Installation was tedious but straightforward. I had to take my turbo downpipe off to get the driver's side mount in & out. It's probably not worth the effort do this mod unless the stock mounts are shot, or the engine is out.
