"Back-Off" flashing break light

A switch that interupts the power flow to the brake lights, causing them to blink three times and then come on for 15 seconds, then the cycle repeats.

Used about nine months.

Easily installed with decent directions. The item isn't Miata specific so the directions were generic, but I had no problems despite my lack of knowledge/experience. I bought line-splice clips from an automotice shop, but one could just peel off the insulation, twist the wires together and then tape it up. Product works great. I've seen write-ups for a modification to cause the brake lights to blink continuosly, but I was behind someone with this mod on a drive-out and only one side of the brake lights worked. Plus I decided that the cycle of three blinks and then 15 seconds on would be less likely to annoy the guy behind me driving a log truck.

Motorcycle Brake Light signal module. Causes the "3rd eye" brake light to flash( 3 short followed by one long for 3.5 secs.) when brake applied. Mfg. by Signal Dynamics of Fort Lauderdale

Installed on motorcycle and on 2000 Miata on the "3rd eye" brake light.....

Followed the discussion on using signal flashers, but found this product was a snap to install. They make one for cars that also causes the "3rd eye" to flash when in reverse, but I was just looking for stopping in forward. Two wires, easy connect to green wire from "3rd eye" under trunk lid. Module is finned so it fit (locks) right in the "V" on the right trunk lid. Used small pieces of electrical tape on locked end flat surface and on fins where it contacted the "V" to avoid any paint scratches. Small piece of Velcro locks in the top end to trunk lid. 10 minutes to install. Neat, clean, and out of the way, and does the job well. MFG. quality is excellent. About $39 at most motorcycle shops.....

Complete kit for higher visibility when breaking. Third brakelight flashes in pulses when the brakes are activated. Kit consists of module and complete easy to follow instructions. Available through Serious Auto.

Installed quickly, mounted very clean with no signs of installation. Small module can be placed in the double wall of the third light housing using supplied double back tape.

Great safety item. Cars seem to stop a distance further back than before the install. I see people pointing at the flashing light while stopped behind me at traffic lights. Has an option of wiring to flash the third brake light when car is backing.
