An adaptor that allows for easy fitment of a Momo (and perhaps other aftermarket wheels) to airbag-equipped cars.

Just installed, along with wheel (see accompanying review).

Adaptor circuitry fools airbag circuit into thinking airbag (which must be removed with most, if not all, aftermarket steering wheel installations) is still present and functional, so the airbag warning light stays off. No problems with wiper or turn signal clearance, turn signal shut-off, horn operation, etc. Install instructions are included, or downloadable from Miata.net or Rosenthal Mazda (Finish Line). A couple of tips are omitted, however. Hardest part of install by far is disconnecting airbag wiring. Instructions neglect to mention that there is a black rubber boot that runs up the wiring to the connectors. Disconnecting the connectors is impossible if you don't slide the boot back an inch or two, easy if you do. Further, instructions neglect to mention that, having finished the install, you have to reconnect the orange and blue airbag connectors under the dash (duh). If you don't, the airbag light flashes, and the horn doesn't work. I should also mention that this hub is not designed to be collapsible--perhaps a safety concern if you're disabling your airbag for the sake of a new steering wheel. I'm running Schroth street harnesses, so I'm not terribly concerned. Only thing I don't like about the adaptor is black crinkle finish of the outer collar (the only part you see). Although high quality and not in and of itself unattractive, it doesn't remotely match black plastic on rest of dash/steering column trim.

A steering wheel Adapter hub for Airbag equipped Miata s from 90-99+.

Installation was nothing to worry about; the instructions were for 90-97 with the words use as a guide for 99+ models written on the page! Even with this, it was an extremely easy installation and it works perfectly with my Nardi Comp 33 wheel. Highly recommended even for a first timer like me!

An Adapter hub for Airbag equipped Miata s from 90-99+. The quality is very high with all connectors for the airbag and horn included. These eliminated all air bag warning light and possible spacing problems with the turn signal or wiper levers.

Hub adaptor for fitting a Momo steering wheel to the Miata. Eliminates modifying a Momo adaptor (why the heck doesn't Momo make an adaptor for Miata? They make one for 323?) and adding the spacer.

I balked at purchasing the adaptor because the price seemed kinda' high. Once you've installed it you'll think it very reasonable. The fact that Finish Line had the Momo Champion on sale clinched it for me. I did not receive any instructions, so printed those from Miata.net garage which were easy enough to follow. The only problem I had was I thought I had the steering wheel lined up properly before removing it, but I still managed to mount the adaptor one "tooth" off, which had me driving with the wheel rotated about 10 degrees. It didn't take too long to remove the wheel and hub and correct it (although I was sure it would be off the other direction until I actually drove it).

I love my Momo wheel, and the Finish Line adaptor made the install very simple. An unexpected pleasure is the black crackle finish on the cover - I am going to paint the whole turn signal housing black crackle to match. Finish Line continues to impress me with a wide range of products, great prices and prompt shipping

plug and play steering wheel hub adapter

my hesitance with the steering wheel mod. was only due to the involved installation process. oh yeah, and the price too. well, with this new adapter there's no excuse for me now. it's all plug and play compatible. there's no air bag warning light problems or spacing problem with the turn signal or wiper levers. cost more than the other hub adapters on the market but i think it was worth it. invested a little more money, but saved a whole bunch of time.

just do it...you'll realize just how simple it is. and the best thing is this is totally reversible!
