IL Motorsport Rearview Mirror

An adjustable telescopic pole that extends between dashboard base at bottom of windshield, and windshield header where rear view mirror mounts.

Original review:

This is a Cobra/356 Porsche style stainless steel rod that extends from the windshield header to the dashboard. Header mount is with two screws into existing holes, dashboard via flat plat that mounts without drilling holes into dash. Supplied mirror can be mounted anywhere along length of the stainless steel rod.

Just installed

I went this route for two purposes: lower rear view mirror to eliminate blind spot from roll bar, and allow BlendMount radar mount instead of windshield suction cups. Solution a bit pricey, but solves both problems. BlendMount 2120 works adequately, if perhaps not perfectly. ILM unit is beautifully constructed, with easy install although instructions not great. Most intimidating part is removal of OEM mirror: Grab with both hands. Jerk. Done. Highly recommended

April, 2019 update:

Allows for mounting of rear view mirror (and whatever else--radar detector in my case) on a stainless steel pole that runs from base of dashboard to RVM mount point on windshield header. Allows for mounting of mirror, and whatever else, at whatever height you choose, which eliminates interference from roll bar (if you have one). Like all ILM stuff is beautifully made. But not cheap.

April 2022 update:

I remain pretty pleased with this product, but three years out the bolt that secures the mirror onto the pole no longer holds the mirror securely. Took it apart. Bolt, although nicely finished, seems to be something other than metal. Some manner of plastic, I think. Hmmm. Replaced it with stainless steel hex bolt from local hardware store. M8 by 100 pitch as I recall, but better check. Mirror now solidly secured.
I'm a bit disappointed IL Motorsport would market such a nice piece with such POS hardware when they could have provided a proper bolt for perhaps $1. Oh well. The times we live in, I guess.

Still, I really like this system. Great for mounting radar locator. Likely good for camera mount too.

Under 30 minutes to remove completely
