R Speed Dual Hood Lift Kit

Cylinders for holding up the hood replacing the stock prop rod.

For my 2002: It fits very well and holds up the hood as described. The instructions are barely intelligible and you need to disregard them anyway (even according to RSpeed). I used no washers on the hood mounts because the hood's bolts are barely long enough for the mounts alone. I found interference with the fender on both sides when using just one washer on the fender mounts. Note that my kit came with two pairs of washers that fit the fender mounts, but each pair has a different thickness. For the fender mounts, I used two washers on the passenger's side and three on the driver's side. I mounted the extension to the end of the piston rather than the body, which seems to give enough clearance over the other fender bolts that the directions say to replace with the supplied lower profile screws. I ended up replacing them with lower profile stainless steel bolts because I hate rust, but the stock bolts would probably have worked. You can test for clearance using a paper to! wel or piece of paper (like the directions!). Most of the install time was the trial and error of hood and fender clearance. I have no issues with noticeable deformation of the hood from interference, even before I eliminated the interference. The hood lifts and lowers easily and it stays up. The only thing that could take it down is a strong wind, but I would not have my hood up in a strong wind.

I do not like how low on the hood it mounts. I think that that causes some stress on the hood, but you take what you can get (other mounting locations would probably require drilling) and the hood seems strong enough. I really like this product so far. I just wish that I knew and had asked where the parts were manufactured because I prefer to avoid Chinese products.

RSpeed Dual Hydraulic Lift Kit

These are dual pneumatic hood lifts/supports to go in place of the OEM prop rod.

After about 6 mo of use, my experience has been very good. I had a single hood support that wore out after a couple years of use. The RSpeed product is much nicer and works a little differently. Instead of attaching to the firewall and hood "body" like the single lifts work, the dual lifts attach to the hood hinge and in place of one of the bolts in the rain channel at the top of each front fender. The lifts are also much stronger. Get about 2/3 the way up and the hood lifts itself. Much more stable than the single support. Two thumbs up.

Dual hood lifts which replaces the stock hood prop rod.

My experience with this product is very good. This was a gift from my wife on X-mas. The install took about 30 minutes. Most of that time was making sure we had the holes lined up evenly for drilling purposes, and drilling through. The parts came in chrome and I believe the directions were straightforward.

I would probably recommend this product over the single units that are being sold because I feel the dual kit gives the hood more stability when up. Its very easy to open and close as well. One of the better things I have put on my car.
